The Legacy Tree Project

Plant Seeds. Grow Leaders. Restore Forests

The Legacy Tree Project invites students to grow something that will outlast them and in doing so, discover the power they have to make the world a better place. Every year, 5th and 3rd grade students plant native tree seeds like mesquite and ironwood and begin a journey of care, learning, and growth. These trees are nurtured in schools or classrooms for a full year before being passed to the next 5th and 3rd grade classes, creating a cycle of stewardship. After two years of care, each tree is donated to the U.S. Forest Service and planted in areas that need restoration.

Through this hands-on program, kids learn about ecosystems, climate, conservation, and leadership. But more importantly, they learn that small actions, when done together, can lead to something truly powerful.

Students are not just planting trees they're learning science, responsibility, and how to collaborate with one another. They build confidence, develop leadership, and leave a lasting mark on the world around them. The trees they are growing help restore damaged & burned areas, prevent erosion, provide habitat, support pollinators and wildlife in Arizona’s natural spaces. The project connects classrooms to real-world action. Families, local organizations, and schools work together to support a common cause rehabilitating the places we all love.

Become A Sponsor

We’re proud to launch the Legacy Tree Project with our first partner schoolβ€”Circle Cross Ranch K–8β€”where students are stepping up in a big way to grow 300 native trees this year.

Each tree costs $12 to grow, care for, and donate to the U.S. Forest Service. That means we're working to raise $3,600 to support Circle Cross Ranch’s full Legacy Tree experience.

Your sponsorship will help provide:

  • Seeds, soil, and pots for 300 trees

  • Educational materials for every student

  • Outdoor learning tools

  • A final tree planting celebration where your support will be recognized

Bring the Legacy Tree Project to Your School

Is your school ready to make a lasting impact? The Legacy Tree Project is a hands-on environmental program that gives students the opportunity to grow native trees, care for them over time, and donate them to help restore Arizona’s natural landscapes.

We’re currently expanding to schools across the stateβ€”and we’d love for yours to be part of it.

Natural Restorations is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring Arizona’s natural spaces through hands-on efforts like trash removal, graffiti cleanup, replanting native species, and providing meaningful work in nature to military veterans. Their impact is incredibleβ€”removing over 1.8 million pounds of trash, erasing 49,000+ square feet of graffiti, planting more than 114,000 native plants, and supporting veterans with nearly 24,000 hours of restoration work.

This project is made possible because of the work they do every single day. By healing wild spaces and giving back to our environment, Natural Restorations inspires othersβ€”like usβ€”to step in and help.

We are truly grateful to support and be a small part of their ongoing mission. Together, we’re making Arizona’s outdoors more beautiful, resilient, and welcoming for future generations.
